Summer 2018
Coach Echeverria with Dr. Joe Vigil
USATF Cross Country Specialist School 2018

It's been a busy but rewarding summer. In June I had the pleasure and honor of taking the USATF XC Specialist class and earning my certification. One hundred and forty five of us, representing every state and Puerto Rico piled into the lecture hall at North Central College in Naperville, IL eagerly listening to the great wisdom and entertaining stories of Joe Vigil, PhD (pictured above).

The summer is good for us to learn and to expand our horizons a little. But I can't wait for the start of the season. After dead period we'll continue on the journey we started a year ago. Hope everyone has been logging their mileage, reading their summer reading assignments, and spending some quality time with family. My family and I are heading to Charleston, SC and Lake Lure in NC during dead period.

Then I'll be at Marion University in Indianapolis, IN for my USATF Level 2 certificate in Track and Field (specializing in Endurance).

Remember the changes made at Ryle this year for submitting physicals and other paperwork.
  • Ryle Aministrative Days and turn in required forms (Athletics Handbook, Physicals, St. Elizabeth Authorization Form, Drug/alcohol/tobacco form) to be turned in for all sports regardless of season. Please bring a copy of physical for each sport you may play +1 for front office.
  • June 7th 9am-12pm; 5pm-8pm
  • July 10th: 4pm - 8pm
  • July 12th: 9am - 12pm
If you cannot make one of those days please see a coach after dead period. I think it's a good idea to get your physicals during the summer. That way they will be good the entire year.

Have fun with the remainder of your summer, run and read - just not at the same time.

Coach Echeverria
