I'd like to thank all the parents who have worked to organize this meet. Weather has tested our communication and organizational skills. I know we'll be fine, after all it is a long season. Mid/Distance runners need to get mileage, while sprinters need to get into the weight room and get stronger. Everyone should also work on flexibility.
Wednesday Meet Cancelled due to weather
The weather is not making the start of the outdoor season easy. Please be patient and let's all be reasonable. I'm super excited about seeing these boys compete. They'll get their chance, just maybe not till after next week. To compete athetes must be at practice. A few special circumstances might keep a boy from being at practice and I'll deal with those on a one-one basis.
On a similar note, the school policy states that an athlete must be at school in order to compete that day. We will follow this rule.
Uniforms
We are going to issue uniforms to seniors and to guys with official varsity times from last year. Everyone else will get tops they will return at the end of the meet. Wear black track shorts (no logos) and dress for the conditions. By the end of next week everyone should have enough meets to start assigning uniforms and making teams. We have 87 high school boys and 30 middle school runners so uniform distribution will be an art form.
Friday 3/17 4:45 PM report to meet at 4:00
MS Meet at Highlands Tower Park Soccer Complex
100 Carmel Manor Road, Ft. Thomas, Ky 41075
No Relays. No Jumpers. No hurdles. Weather forecast calls for rain and cold. All MS athletes will compete. Events include 100 meter, 400 meter, 800 meter, and 1600 meter and throwers (shot 4:45, discus after)
MS athletes need to report to room 103 to get uniforms. Policy on the team states that athletes need to be at practice the day before a meet to participate. If your son will miss because of soccer, lacrosse, or any other sport outside of Ryle please see me or have him see me with a schedule in hand and we'll plan for those cases. If your son is involved in an academic or extracurricular activity with Ryle or Gray those absences are excused. I want to encourage and we want these young men to develop into well-rounded scholar athletes. Still, proper communication is expected.
MS boys and parents please report to Borland Stadium at 12:00. This is the first MS event of two and we'd love to have everyone there helping the program.
